Watchside Support

This page works whether or not Watchside is running, which is the point of it — if the panel will not open, you can still get help here.

The panel does not appear on Twitch

• Watchside only runs on twitch.tv. It will not appear anywhere else, including on other video sites.
• Reload the Twitch tab. The panel is added when the page loads, so a tab opened before Watchside was installed will not have it.
• Check the extension is enabled in your browser's extensions page, and that it is not paused or blocked for twitch.tv.
• If you minimised it, look for the small round Watchside mark near the top-left of the page — click it to open the panel again.

Signing in with Twitch is not working

• Sign-in opens Twitch's own page in a separate window. If you use a pop-up blocker it may have been suppressed — allow it and try again.
• If you closed that window before finishing, nothing was saved. Press Continue with Twitch again.
• If Watchside says it cannot reach its server, that is usually temporary. Reload the Twitch tab after a minute.

Watchside looks out of date, or behaves oddly

• Your browser updates extensions on its own schedule. The version you are running is at the bottom of the account panel — click your avatar in the Watchside panel to see it.
• Reloading the extension from your browser's extensions page clears most stale-state problems.

Notifications are not arriving

• Watchside can only send a desktop notification if your browser has given it permission. That permission belongs to the browser, not to Watchside.
• If you refused it, Watchside cannot ask again — you would need to allow notifications for the extension in your browser's own settings.
• There is also a switch in the Watchside account panel. Both have to be on for a notification to arrive.

Privacy, and deleting your account

You can delete your Watchside account from the account panel: click your avatar, then Delete account. It asks you to type your Twitch username first, because it cannot be undone.

Disconnecting Watchside on Twitch removes what Watchside worked out about your relationship with creators; signing out removes neither that nor your account. The privacy policy explains all three.
